How to Join the Washington
Wing E-Mail List
The Washington Wing e-mail list (otherwise known
as “WAWG Info”) is an informal way for members throughout the wing to contact all the other members who are on
the list and disseminate information. Much of the information will not be of
relevance to an individual cadet or senior member, but every once in a while there will be an item of particular interest
that the member might not have become aware of by any other means.
This is definitely not a “chat”
group, but rather a way to exchange “business” information about Civil Air Patrol.
Very occasionally there may be some heated “discussions”, but all members are aware of CAP standards of
language and conduct, and the self-policing of this system is excellent. The subject line of all the e-mails you’ll receive through this system always begins with
“wawg info…”
TO JOIN THE E-MAIL LIST:
1) Go to the Washington Wing webpage: http://wawg.cap.gov
2) In the upper right corner of the wing’s homepage, click on “Join the mailing list”
3) Then click on “Subscribe WAWG Info”
4)
This will open an e-mail page. Now you will make a few changes to the
line of text that appears there (in the body of the e-mail), which looks like this:
subscribe
wawg-info John Doe (PCR-WA-xxx) < JohnDoe@myISP.com >
a) In the black-lettered area, delete “John Doe” and type the CAP member’s first
and last name.
b) Replace “xxx” with 002 (that is Green River Composite Squadron’s
unit number)
c) Replace the blue “JohnDoe@myISP.com” with your own e-mail
address.
5)
Here’s an example of what the line of text in the e-mail should look like when you’re finished:
subscribe wawg-info Tom Smith (PCR-WA-002) < tsmith@msn.net >
6)
Now, just send the e-mail. Done!
TO SEND A MESSAGE/INQUIRY OUT
THROUGH THE WAWG INFO SYSTEM:
1)
Open any wawg info e-mail that you’ve received
2)
Click on “reply all” at the top of your e-mail screen
3)
Change the subject line at the top to reflect your purpose (if you’re changing the subject)
4)
Replace the text in the body of the e-mail with your own (or leave it and add your comment at the top if you’re
replying to a previous e-mail.)
5)
Click “Send”. Your message will now go to every subscriber
to wawg info.
